SUGALIDAL IS NOW SUGAL
The Portuguese group decided to resume the designation that was born more than 50 years in order to have the same corporate image in all countries where it operates. Sugalidal is now Sugal.
"Sugal: two seasons, one company"
Inspired in the words of Mandela, João Ortigão Costa, announced to his team the begging of the new Sugal Group.
“None of us Acting alone can achieve Success. We must act together”, said the great leader Nelson Mandela, and this a reality that applies to us all as a team, to us now as global group with 5 factories in 3 different countries and obviously to us and our stake holders partners. Acting together we are stronger, better and only this way we can achieve real sustainable success.”, said João Ortigão Costa. Sugal Group belongs to one of the oldest groups in the industry of tomato in Portugal and despite its continuous growth along almost 6 decades, it remains a family business.

Nevertheless I only came to work in “Sugal” factory 15 years ago”, says JOC “understand the business, find a business model that could differentiate us and implement it, has been the challenge I proudly gather as a truly mission that soon became a passion! To survive in a “commodity global market” we had a long way to walk … we needed become better, bigger and stronger"

With two factories in Portugal (Benavente and Azambuja), one in Espanhaa and two in Chile, Sugal sells abroad close to 95 per cent of its production of tomato concentrate.
